Walla Walla Community College President Steven L. VanAusdle was presented with the Washington State University Alumni Sodality (WSUAA) Alumni Achievement Award on May VanAusdle was accoladed for his outstanding leadership of the college, dedication to higher edification, and many contributions to the economic vitality of the Walla Walla Valley and the state.
A native of Pomeroy, Wash., VanAusdle consummated his Bachelor of Science (1966) and Master of Art (1968) degrees in Agricultural Economics from Washington State University. He later earned a doctoral degree from The Ohio State University in 1980. He has accommodated as president of Walla Walla Community College since 1984, and his leadership is credited with availing the institution provide innovative programs and edifying opportunities for the entire Walla Walla region and in Clarkston, Wash. Prominent for his positive, auxiliary style, VanAusdle has had a profound impact on the lives of thousands of students.
VanAusdle is a longtime community volunteer. An Elks Lodge member since 1969 and a Rotary Club member since 1982, he has accommodated on the Coalesced Way Board of Directors and was president in 1984 and has accommodated as president of the Walla Walla Valley Chamber of Commerce. His volunteer leadership centers on local and regional economic development: he currently accommodates as Vice Chair of the Washington Economic Development Commission, and is a member of the National Council on Competitiveness, the Pacific Power Regional Advisory Board, and the Port of Walla Walla Economic Development Advisory Committee.
The WSUAA Alumni Achievement Award was engendered in 1970 by the WSUAA Board of Directors to apperceive alumni who have given outstanding accommodation to WSU and made contributions to their vocations and communities. Out of an estimated 250,000 total students who have attended WSU, VanAusdle is the 486th Alumni Achievement Award victor.
