The ‘Catatumbo Lightning’: Venezuela’s Perpetual Storm

When his family peregrinates to Lake Maracaibo four years later, the epicenter of that perpetual storm, he met close-up what would become a perennial zealousness: the Catatumbo Lightning. Thanks to his lobbying, this year the Catatumbo Lightning was approved for inclusion in the 2015 edition of Guinness World Records, abdicating the Congolese town of Kifuka as the place with the world’s most lightning bolts per square kilometer each year at 250. Scientists cerebrate the Catatumbo, designated for a river that runs into the lake, is mundane lightning that just transpires to occur far more than anywhere else, due to local topography and wind patterns. History books show the lightning has played a paramount role in Venezuelan history, availing thwart at least two nocturnal incursions of the country. Lightning strikes over Lake Maracaibo in the village of Congo Mirador, where the Catatumbo River fee. Years later, working as a tour guide in the Andes, he too visually perceived the Catatumbo Lightning, but verbally expressed: “I didn’t ken it was anything special.” Highton bought a stilt house on the lake and commenced to bring visitors to optically discern the lightning.
I’ve spent over six month in Venezuela during four trips and it is without a doubt one of the most beautiful countries of the planet. From Angel Falls to the fabulous beaches to the Andes, it is amazing. Unfortunately, the government has squandered the oil wealth and life for the Venezuelan people who aren’t wealthy is tragic. Because of the dire circumstances there, people are desperate and crime is rampant. The government will have to make great changes in order to attract tourists. Venezuela has the most beautiful places to go. It has snow covered mountains, sand deserts, forests, jungle, great beaches… Unfortunately it’s one of the most dangerous countries in the world. Only in 2013 more than 25000 people were killed. That’s the main reason why most tourists won’t come to the country. In addition to that, there’s no infrastructure for tourism. Much could be done to have eco-friendly tourism in the area, but that won’t happen if visitors are robbed or killed. Venezuela has everything; the worst thing you can find is upper and middle class Venezuelans that talk negatively about their country, just for political reasons. Geographically, the people, the food everything is magic. Anywhere you go you can find bad things, I know as a fact people that went to USA as tourists and they had lost their life, their money, because they had been killed and robed. That does not mean that USA is the worst place to visit, just they have bad luck. My recommendation is do not listen anybody, go to Venezuela and you will have your own opinion.
